Behind the 'Bots
Behind every robot is a story. A story of late nights, endless programming, and a rush to get everything done in only six weeks. Learn more about the design, fabrication, and achievements of each of our robots from our rookie year's bot to our latest robot, Gus 9.
Although Team 228's primary sponsors are crucial to our team, there are many more smaller, "behind the scenes" people and companies that help our team. Whether they donate supplies, meals, or help volunteer and/or organize, these individuals and companies are important to the everyday running of our team. Gus Robotics Team 228 would like to extend a very special thanks the following companies and individuals for their donations and contributions to the team:
Joy DutraSince 2006 was our team's first year involved in the FIRST Vex Challenge, we needed to purchase a large number of parts and componetns in order to get our FVC team started. Knowing that our team could use a nice donation, Mrs. Dutra, the mother of two of the students on our team, donated one complete Vex Robotics Starter Kit (worth $299) to our team. |
Lyon and BillardLyons and Billard has graciously donated lumber supplies to our team for the construction of the Vex Playing Field and our 2006 Robot Cart. These lumber supplies included a dozen 4' by 4' sheets of 1/2" plywood, 1" pine boards, and 2x4's. |
Colony GlassColony Glass Inc. of Wallingford, Connecticut graciously donated to our team $300 dollars worth of 1/4" polycarbonate sheets. These polycarbonate sheets were used to construct the 2006 Vex Playing Field. |
