Here's what each and every one of the wheels on our robot started out as: one giant hunk of aluminum about eight inches in diameter with twelve holes drilled through them. (They were donated as is to our team by one of our sponsors.) So after a long time on the lathe and milling machine, these heavy blocks of aluminum would eventually become 0.8 pound, wicked awesome wheels for the robot.
