Here's a top view of Mini Gus 1, Team 228's first FVC competition robot. The way this robot worked is that the front (4-tank-tread-wide) rollers would pick up balls off the playing field. From there, they would roll down the tray to the elevator arm. The elevator arm pivoted near the front of the robot, and allowed the balls to be pushed up all the way into the center goal. The elevator arm could also be used to pick up balls off of the auto loader at the ends of the playing field. With the exception of limit switches, no sensors were used on the competition robot.
