A front view of our CIM-powered, three-speed transmission. This transmission was attached by means of an aluminum shaft collar, that strapped the front area of the transmission just behind the roller chain sprocket. This aluminum shaft collar was then bolted onto a special milled aluminum plate on the robot. This plate had a special configuration of idler sprockets in order to ensure there was always 180 degrees of wrap on the small 9-tooth output sprocket.
