Meriden Daffodil Festival and Parade 2008
April 27, 2008It’s that time of year again! When carnival ride silhouettes emerge from the horizon and thousands of daffodils emerge from the ground. It couldn’t be anything else, but the Meriden Daffodil Festival. This 2 day event takes place during the third week of April every year and is a major town gathering event. With a parade, carnival rides, food tent, and craft fair, people of all ages are bound to find something they enjoy. Our team, Gus, decided to take advantage of this opportunity to raise some funds for our team and to get the word of FIRST out to the world. With a colorful parade float showing off our most recent robots and a booth in the food tent, thousands of people became exposed to FIRST. Our food booth also served a double purpose, to get the word out about FIRST and to raise funds for our team. We sold barbeque pulled pork sandwiches, beef brisket, and cheesy bacon fries, selling out of everything by Sunday afternoon. We raised some good money for our team, but none of this would’ve been possible without the help of Mr. Gibbs, the father of our team member Josh. Thank You Mr. Gibbs!
