Final Countdown To Ship Date

After 6 weeks of blood, sweat, and tears, we finally completed our task; building a robot in six weeks. Only we didn’t build just a robot, we built two. This year was the first in Gus History that our team built a competition robot and a practice robot, in the same amount of time. So when ship date came, we still had another robot back in the shop that we would still be able to tinker and practice driving with. Both robots are identical to one another from their claws to their chassis which we hope will be an advantage to us. We plan on having driver practices in the upcoming weeks to better prepare our team for competition. Having a practice robot will hopefully give us an edge on the competition.

As happy as our team was with our successful build season, we were saddened when our lead engineer, Ben Piecuch, announced that he was leaving. He has taken a new job in Rhode Island that will sadly take him away from our team. Ben has been with our team 5 years and he watched us grow to become a real contender. He has had a hand in designing some of our more successful robots, including our 2005 robot that came in 14th on the Archimedes field at the championships in Atlanta. We have truly appreciated his time and dedication to the team in recent years and his presence will be missed. We wish him the best at his new job.
