2006 FIRST Championship Event
April 29, 2006As with everything in life, there are times that you perform well at competitions and times that when Murphy's Law seems to to lurk around every corner. The 2006 Championship Event was unfortunately the latter for Team 228. Of the eight matches we played in the Curie Division, six of them resulted in our robot "throwing" a drive chain. In our very last match, we had the most a series of high-speed ramming into our robot had severely damaged it, critically bending the frame. Even if we had been chosen into an alliance, our robot would not have been in a condition to compete. Despite the bad luck that plagued our robot during the Championships, the students and mentors of Team 228 would not let that spoil our enthusiasm. We vowed we would rebuild our robot, and come back and prove ourselves at later competitions in the year.
